Explore one of the Czech Republic’s oldest and most important medieval castles, associated with the rulers of Bohemia. Located roughly 50 kilometres west of Prague, Late Gothic Křivoklát Castle is hidden away in beautiful forest and has been designed a national cultural monument.
When the castle was founded is unknown, but the first significant remodelling was carried out as far back as the 13th century. Charles IV, who later became King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, spent part of his childhood at Křivoklát, while separated from his mother.
